I sing for the humble and the hungry
The poor in spiritual wealth
I sing for those who have abandoned hope,
And those who have lost their song.
Sales of CDs and Books along with the generosity of good friends have:
- Helped a young African man through three years of university schooling.
- Built a house for a family of seven in Africa.
- Sent a hearing aid to an African boy who passed his national high school exams and will be allowed to attend a university with the provision that he has a hearing aid.
- Sent more than $4,000 for the building of a school in Ethiopia.
I have friends who are teachers, nurses and hospital administrators in African countries. One has established an orphanage in Ethiopia for orphans with AIDS. My husband, Mitch, and I have been on three short term mission trips to Yetebon, Ethiopia, an isolated, rural area where Project Mercy has founded a school for students grades K-12 and built an outstanding hospital.
Nancy Kilpatrick, a friend who has sung with me for years, is now a missionary nurse who takes medical supplies and American volunteers to sites in Uganda and Malawi, places that are in desperate need of clinics and medical aid. I hope someday to join her in her efforts.
In the future, I hope to establish a non-profit corporation for the purpose of sending aid to Ethiopian schools and orphanages, encouraging African students in their studies and assisting with medical sites in Uganda and Malawi. In the meantime, I will speak and sing and sell books and CDs. To God be the glory!
